Edina School Board Holding Informational Meeting on its Four Open Seats

Learn what it takes to serve on the Edina School Board.
The board is hosting an informational meeting at 6 p.m. Monday in Room 349 of the Edina Community Center.
The meeting will be facilitated by current members of the Edina School Board, who will discuss expectations and responsibilities of being a school board member. Topics to be covered include governance and the relationship between the School Board and district administration, meeting formats, policies, committee structure, etc. Current members will share insights and learnings from their time serving on the School Board and answer questions from meeting participants. Individuals who have already filed their candidacy or considering running for School Board are encouraged to attend this free informational session.
Board members Randy Meyer, Regina Neville and Lonni Skrentner's seats are all up for election, as is the seat vacated by Idith Almog.
Potential candidates must file by Aug. 13.

- Retired Edina High School English teacher Van Anderson reads from his poetry collection, "Tending the Garden," at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Galleria Barnes and Noble.
