Edina Seniors Earn College-Sponsored National Merit Scholarship
More than 150 higher education institutions are sponsoring annual awards for 2,600-plus students across the U.S.
EDINA, MN — Two seniors from Edina High School are set to receive college-sponsored National Merit Scholarships after being named among the winners Wednesday.
More than 150 higher education institutions are sponsoring annual awards of $500 to $2,000 for more than 2,600 students for up to four years of undergraduate studies at the sponsoring institution.

Jack Herzer earned a scholarship sponsored by the University of Minnesota, where he plans to study law, according to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which runs the program.
Jack McIntyre is due to receive a scholarship from the University of Iowa to study computer science.

Six seniors from Edina High School earned $2,500 National Merit Scholarships in May.
- Grace A. Everts — probable field: computer science
- Madeline G. Howard — pediatrics
- Karen S. Lee — medicine
- Ananth K. Veluvali — business
- William M. Walkley — finance
- Skylar R. Wang — international law
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation plans to name about 1,400 additional winners in July. By the time those winners are announced, about 7,500 high school seniors will have won about $28 million in National Merit Scholarships in 2022, the organization said.
