With the addition of eight new and younger members that joined the group recently, the Edina Singing Seniors are reinvigorated and ready to begin their 38th season. The main purpose of the group has always been to entertain and sing for a wide variety of audiences—particularly senior citizen’s groups—and that will continue to be the group’s focus.
This year, the Edina Singing Seniors will also be doing sing alongs for parties, reunions and special gatherings. The group is always open to welcoming new members.

Performances are designed to last about 45 minutes and consist of well-known songs from one of several programs: "Love Songs," "Patriotic Songs," "Yesterday’s Hits," and a special "Christmas/Holiday Program." Special sing-along programs can also be tailored for particular occasions.
The group will continue to be accompanied by a wonderful young pianist, Russ King, who has a wealth of experience both locally and nationally. In addition, Dave Walters, a newly acquired member, will add his guitar to the mix.

In its 37 years of existence, the group has evolved from a mostly vaudeville troupe to its current format of singing the old standards. However, as a part of their performances, audiences are actively invited and encouraged to sing along. This format will be emphasized even more in the upcoming year.
A "Music Committee" currently manages the group's affairs and its members include Barb Felker, Julie Mellum, Kathy Mende, Dan Phillips and Dave Walters. Anyone interested in joining the Edina Singing Seniors or wishing to book a performance, should contact Barb Felker (952-929-2813, e-mail dollroom@sprynet.com) or Kathy Mende (952-887-4112, e-mail k.mende@comcast.net).
The group currently has almost 20 members, but is willing to consider adding more. Ages of the group range from the 60s to the early 90s. The goal is to provide the audiences with a fun, lively experience that gets them singing a number of familiar tunes. The group practices on Mondays from 1-3 p.m. at the and performs 2-3 times a month from September to May.
