Edina Thespians Receive Governor's Commendation

The students were recognized for being selected to perform on the main stage at the 2011 International Thespian Festival.

The Thespains received kudos from an unlikely source this past week: Gov. Mark Dayton.

Dayton issued a certificate of commendation to the thespians to celebrate their at the 2011 International Thespian Festival. 

"The honors that your group has received bring a great sense of pride to the State of Minnesota," Dayton wrote.

The Edina Thespians are the first Minnesota high school group in more than 50 years to be invited to bring a show to the main stage of the festival, according to Edina High School director Tony Matthes. Out of some 125 adjudicated shows, Edina's rendition of Anything Goes is one of only eight that will be performed at the festival.
