Edina Under Flash Flood Watch Through Thursday

Edina is looking to get wet in the coming days, as the National Weather Service is predicting as much as three inches of rain to fall across the Twin Cities and parts west. As a result, the NWS has issued a flash flood watch for the Twin Cities, including Hennepin County, and central Minnesota.

According to the NWS:

"Showers and thunderstorms will continue to expand today. Widespread rain is expected tonight with a swath of heavy rain across Minnesota. Looking ahead, a frontal boundary will stall out across the area, which will allow the active weather to continue across the region through the weekend."

The weather statement goes on to read:

A COLD FRONT THAT WAS DRAPED OVER THE UPPER MIDWEST INTO THE SOUTHERN PLAINS...WILL SLOWLY MOVE EAST INTO THE WESTERN GREAT LAKES AND CENTRAL PLAINS BY THURSDAY AFTERNOON. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL REDEVELOP ALONG AND EAST OF THE FRONT... ESPECIALLY LATER TODAY AND TONIGHT. RAINFALL TOTALS TONIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON ARE LIKELY TO VARY FROM TWO TO THREE INCHES IN THE WATCH AREA WITH A FEW LOCATIONS EXCEEDING OVER THREE INCHES.

The watch goes into effect at 7 p.m. tonight and will remain in effect until 1 p.m. Thursday.
