Fish Falls Short of Wimbledon Quarterfinals

The Edina native lost to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the fourth round of the iconic tournament.

One year after making the quarterfinals at Wimbledon, Edina native Mardy Fish fell one match short of the same mark.

Fish, 30, was defeated by fifth-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4, 6-4 Tuesday, July 3, in the fourth round of Wimbledon. The match was delayed several times due to rain and to allow Tsonga to get treatment for a back injury.

This was Fish's first tournament appearance since undergoing a procedure on his heart in late May. He was seeded 10th in the tournament, defeating Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo, James Ward and David Goffin in the first three rounds of singles play.
