Minnesotans can rent about 870 square feet of apartment space for $1,400, on average, which is 11 percent higher than the national average for that rate, RentCafe reports.

A renter in Edina can expect to get much less space — 791 square feet — for that price, according to the report. That's the third-smallest space among the 39 cities that were analyzed.

Minneapolis renters get the least amount of space for the average $1,400 rent, at just 675 square feet, while Golden Valley renters can get about 743 for that rate, RentCafe's report shows.

Moorhead renters can get twice as much space — just under 1,500 square feet — for the same price.
