Hornets Handily Defeat Minnetonka in Boys Lacrosse, 10-3

The Edina varsity lacrosse team defeated the Minnetonka Skippers in a Lake Conference matchup Thursday night, May 16.

The Edina boys lacrosse team topped the Minnetonka Skippers in conference play Thursday night, May 16, in a 10-3 victory.

The Hornets were led in scoring by junior Harris Whaley and senior Derek Todd, who both scored three goals for the team. The contest started out close, with both teams trading goals to reach a 3-3 tie in the second quarter.

Edina flipped a switch at that point, going on a seven-goal run to close the contest with a final score of 10-3. The Hornets saw fantastic play from senior goalie Austin Dover, with the entire team playing strong defense.

The Hornets, who lost two starters this season to broken legs, are beginning to gel at the right time of the season. With two regular season games left this spring—against Hopkins at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, and against Benilde-St. Margaret's at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 24—the Hornets are currently boasting a 6-5 overall record, 4-3 in conference games.
