A small laundry room fire in the 5600 block of Woodcrest Drive reportedly put itself out before crews arrived, according to the .
Crews were dispatched to the single family home shortly after 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 24, but spokesman Jordan Gilgenbach said the fire caused a plumbing line to break, thereby putting itself out. By the time crews arrived to the home, there wasn't much fire to fight.
The irony of the situation was not lost on the Edina Fire Department.

"It basically did the work of what a residential sprinkler system would've done," Gildgenbach said. "There was a little damage to the laundry room and some smoke damage in the house, but that was about it."
There were no injuries to report as nobody was home at the time of the fire, according to Gilgenbach. An observant neighbor reportedly called the fire in to dispatchers.
