District 287 Educator Named As Finalist For MN Teacher Of The Year
Intermediate District 287 provides special education to students from 11 member districts, including Edina Public Schools.
HENNEPIN COUNTY, MN — An Intermediate District 287 educator was recently named as finalists for the 2022 Minnesota Teacher of the Year award.
Jon Fila, an English teacher for grades 9-12 at Northern Star Online, is one of 11 educators named as finalists for the award by Education Minnesota, the union that runs the Teacher of the Year program.
The union’s selection panel is scheduled to interview each finalist April 30 before voting for the 2022 Minnesota Teacher of the Year.

Seventy-seven teachers were nominated for the award. An independent panel of leaders in education, business, philanthropy and nonprofits reviewed their portfolios to choose 25 semifinalists.
Intermediate District 287 provides special education to students from 11 member districts — Brooklyn Center, Eden Prairie, Edina, Hopkins, Orono, Osseo, Richfield, Robbinsdale, St. Louis Park, Wayzata and Westonka — and nonmember districts.
