“Bookawocky,” Hennepin County Library’s summer program series for kids and teens, is in full swing at local libraries.  Storytimes, book clubs, art programs, music, movies, online activities, and other free activities are scheduled.   Author, small business, career, and other free programs for adults are offered this summer, too.

Stories in French
Mondays, July 9-30, 4-4:30 p.m. at Edina Library 
Entering grades 1-4. French storytellers will tell stories and encourage interactive dialog in French. Children will be divided by age.

Teen Girls Only Book Club
Tuesday, July 10, 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Edina Library

Girls entering grades 7-8. Get together with other girls to talk about great books! Pick up a copy of the book at the Information Desk after May 29.

Baby Storytime
Thursdays, July 12-Aug. 2, 11 a.m. at Edina Library 
Registration required; began June 14; limit 25. For children from birth to 24 months. Delight and stimulate your baby's senses with books and music. Build brain power.

Paint It Green: Mys-Tree Book Making
Tuesday, July 24, 6-7:30 p.m. at Edina Library 
Registration required; begins June 26; limit 20. Entering grades 3-5. Never judge a book by its cover or a tree by its bark! Learn about trees inside and out, and create a mysterious tree book with secret hidden pages that will surprise your family and friends. 
This project is funded with money from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Presented in collaboration with Silverwood Park.

Michael Monroe: One-Man Acoustic Jam
Thursday, July 26, 2 p.m. at Edina Library 
PreK-entering grade 6. Blending rich vocals, guitar and bamboo flute with creative technology, Monroe delivers a powerful style of acoustic folk, reggae and jazz.

Art Out of the Box: Black and White and Read All Over
Tuesday, July 31, 6-7 p.m. at Edina Library 
Registration required; begins July 3; limit 20. Entering grades 2-5. Artists can say a lot in just black and white. You'll investigate form and fiction found in sculpture from the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, then sculpt characters to tell your own stories. What story will your sculpture tell? 
Funded by the Friends of the Hennepin County Library and presented in partnership with the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.

SCORE® Small Business Consultations
Mondays, July 9 & Aug. 13, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Southdale Library

Using fairy tales and simple acting games, children will be led by an experienced Guthrie teaching artist to create their own tales inspired by the twists and turns of their imaginations. Ross Sutter: Songs, Games and Instruments

This one-on-one 15-minute session will help job seekers develop a customized job search plan, including networking, cover letters, résumés, interviewing, career assessment and more. Sign up in person at the second-floor conference room on the day of the program.

Bruce the Bug Guy

Understanding Medicare

What is covered by Medicare and how and when should you enroll? What changes resulted from the recent Affordable Care Act? This presentation will cover the services provided by the Senior LinkAge Line®, the “donut hole,” and the website medicare.gov.

Learn how to use the ribbon, enter and delete text, basic formatting, cut, copy and paste; and when to use 'save' and 'save as.'

Paws to Read
Saturday, July 21, 12:30-2 p.m. at Southdale Library 
Preschool-entering grade 4. Certified volunteers will help put young readers at ease so they can cuddle up with a dog or other animal and practice reading aloud. Call ahead to find out what types of animals will be visiting. Arrive between 12:30-1:40 p.m. to sign up for a time slot.

Printmaking: The Pressure is On!

Registration required; begins June 26; limit 10. Entering grades 7-10. Let's make crazy prints! Print with a fish or a flower to create wild, unique designs that will look really good on your jeans, notebook, bedspread or car!

Puppeteer Steve Mark Presents A Bridge to Fur
Wednesday, July 25, 10:30 a.m. at Southdale Library 
Entering K-grade 5. Minnesota history lesson through a hilarious puppet show! Two French fur traders journey up the river with a canoe full of beaver pelts to the trading post in the 1700s. Silly fun with lots of audience participation.
