Minneapolis Police Release Photos of Suspected Burglar

Man could be tied to three high-profile burglaries in Edina this year.

The Minneapolis Police Department has released photographs of a man they believe is responsible for at least five "sophisticated high end burglaries" in Minneapolis, in addition to a numbers of incidents in Edina, Minnetonka, Wayzata and Plymouth.

This comes approximately two weeks after Edina Police issued a to be on the lookout for a serial burglar who reportedly took more than $100,000 in jewelry from several homes in the city's northwest corner.

That suspect appeared to have been looking solely for jewelry, police said, bypassing other valuables in the process. He was described as a white male in his 40s, with dark hair and a receding hairline. He has been observed driving two separate vehicles during the burglaries—a red pickup truck with a black topper and a brown sedan.

Edina Police did not outright confirm the man seen in the pictures is a suspect in the Edina cases, but said they have been "working closely with other departments on this particular set of cases."

"Pictures are sometimes all it takes to jog someone's mind," said Public Information Officer Molly Anderson. "We certainly hope anyone with any information comes forward."

There have been no additional Edina burglaries reported since the May 10 incident, according to police.

In all the Minneapolis cases, which began in January and were last seen in April, the burglar compromised the homes’ alarm systems to get inside, and then made off with jewelry, cash, checkbooks and high-end electronics.

In one case, Minneapolis police said the suspect also tried to compromise a security camera system. Most of the cases have taken place during the day or when residents were away from home.

Anyone who recognizes the suspects in the photos or can provide additional information as it relates to the cases is encouraged to call Sgt. James Jensen of the Minneapolis Police Department’s Fifth Precinct Property Crimes Unit at 612-673-5587.
