Officer Seeger, K-9 Partner Take Part in National Competition
The Edina police officer and his K-9, Diesel, placed 17th overall at the National Detector Trials.

Edina Police Officer Mike Seeger and Diesel, his K-9 partner, recently took part in the United States Police Canine Association's (USPCA) National Detector Trials in Florida.
The duo finished 17th overall in the competition, which involved more than 50 police canines from all over the U.S.
"I'm very proud of Diesel," said Seeger. "I just hold the leash and he shows me the way."

They took part in two detection events at the National Detector Trials, competing in both an indoor and outdoor search. In both cases, Diesel was required locate hidden narcotics. The two finished in sixth place during the outdoor detection part.
The two have been working together since 2006. K-9 officers are required to complete a regional certification test annually, then those who meet a qualifying score are able to compete at the national level.

Seeger and Diesel competed at the USPCA's National Police Dog I Trials in Detroit Lakes last year, finishing in fourth place nationally.
