Special 'Franco' Cupcakes Sell Like Crazy at Edina Bakery
Sweet Retreat Cupcake Boutique sold the cupcakes to help pay medical bills for the injured pit bull.

For anyone wondering what the deal was with the line stretching along France Avenue all the way to 50th Street Friday afternoon, it was a group of local dog lovers waiting to purchase cupcakes from Sweet Retreat Cupcake Boutique.
The and Edina-based Secondhand Hounds Animal Rescue, were aimed at raising money to help pay medical expenses for Franco, a pit bull found being beaten by teenagers in a Blaine convenience store parking lot earlier this month.
"Helping out with something like this gives me a deeper purpose, I guess," Johnson said. "What's important to me are children and animals. Our moose fundraiser last month was really successful and this just tugged at my heartstrings. I thought, 'Why not do this again?'"
