Volunteers Sought for Watershed District Board Vacancy

Applications are due by Aug. 24 for those interested in serving a three-year term on the Nine Mile Creek Watershed District board.

The Hennepin County Board of Commissioners is seeking applicants for a vacancy on the Nine Mile Creek Watershed District Board, due to the expiration of term of office Sept. 29 of board incumbent LuAnn Tolliver.

The district’s five-member board develops a comprehensive plan for conservation of natural resources and coordinates management of water and related land resources covering an area approximately 50 square miles that drains into Nine Mile Creek. A member may not be a public officer of the county, state or federal government and must be a resident of the district, which in Hennepin County includes portions of Hopkins, Bloomington, Edina, Richfield, Eden Prairie and Minnetonka.

Because of the nature of the board, it is helpful for members to have a background in water conservation, development, law, engineering, environment or public administration. Members serve three-year terms.
