Meet A Future Leader In Inver Grove Heights: Ren Johnson
Patch and T-Mobile have partnered to highlight young people achieving great things in our community.

The future of Inver Grove Heights is looking bright, thanks to the incredible young people working to strengthen our community. In partnership with T-Mobile, Patch is proud to spotlight future leaders like Ren Johnson, who are making a positive impact in and around Inver Grove Heights.
Ren Johnson, a psychology major at Inver Hills Community College, is making waves as a student leader and advocate for positive change. As president of the Phi Theta Kappa Alpha Omicron Beta Chapter (PTK AOB), Ren was named a 2024 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar, earning a $1,000 scholarship for their academic excellence, leadership potential, and dedication to community service.
In addition to leading PTK, Ren is deeply engaged on campus, serving as president of the Psi Beta Psychology Honors Society, advocacy director for the Student Senate and vice president of the Outdoor Activities Club. They also balance roles in TRIO Student Support Services and Counseling and Advising while working to create an inclusive and supportive campus environment.

In an article published by Inver Hills News, faculty advisors praised Ren’s leadership style, which has inspired peers and fostered a sense of community at Inver Hills.
“I am so proud to know and work with Ren through my role as a PTK advisor and to celebrate their achievements,” said Sadie Pendaz-Foster, PhD, a Sociology and Humanities faculty member at Inver Hills Community College. “Their leadership is inclusive, calming and also filled with wit and realism.”

Looking ahead, Ren will transfer to Winona State University in the summer of 2025 to pursue a major in Psychology with double minors in Communication Studies and Gender, Women’s, and Sexuality Studies. With aspirations to become an academic advisor, Ren’s journey reflects their unwavering commitment to education, advocacy, and empowering others to achieve their goals.
