He enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1943 – 1945, serving in the Pacific Theater. After leaving the Navy, he trained to be a private pilot. His aviation skills led him to become a civil flight instructor for the U.S. Air Force at Malden Air Base in Malden, MO from 1951 – 1958. He completed his aviation career as a professional corporate pilot from 1958 to 1981. In his final job before retirement, he again used his teaching skills in the training department at the Air Traffic Control Center in Farmington, MN.
He is preceded in death by parents Ira and Beulah; brother David and sister Esther.
There will be a brief interment with military honors at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN at 11:45 am Monday, January 9, 2012. Reception to follow at 12:30 pm at the American Legion Post 1776 in Apple Valley, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the family.
