10 Maple Grove Schools On MN’s Weekly Coronavirus Outbreak List
Two Maple Grove schools were added over the past two weeks to the state's list of facilities with coronavirus outbreaks.
MAPLE GROVE, MN — The number of Maple Grove schools on the Minnesota Department of Health’s list of facilities with recent coronavirus outbreaks reached double digits Thursday.
Ten Maple Grove schools were included on the list Thursday, up from eight schools Nov. 4.
Osseo Area Schools’ Basswood Elementary was added to the list alongside the Minnesota Excellence in Learning Academy.

They joined four other Osseo Area elementary schools in Maple Grove — Fernbrook, Rice Lake, Rush Creek and Weaver Lake — as well as Maple Grove Middle School, Maple Grove Senior High, Parnassus Preparatory Charter School and Ave Maria Academy.

The COVID-19 data dashboard for Osseo Area Schools shows there have been 721 total coronavirus cases among students in the district since Sept. 7, including 172 new cases from Nov. 9-15. The district serves about 20,500 students.
The district reported 780 coronavirus cases among students between Aug. 20, 2020, and Sept. 6, 2021, according to the dashboard.

Osseo Area Schools reported 31 new cases among staff members from Nov. 9-15, taking its total to 135 staff cases since Sept. 7.
Thursday's list included 115 Hennepin County schools, 26 more than on Nov. 4.
The number of Minnesota schools with recent coronavirus outbreaks continues to grow as the state deals with one of the worst case spikes in the U.S. There were 742 Minnesota schools on Thursday's list, 103 more than two weeks ago.

A school is considered to have an outbreak when it reports five or more confirmed cases of the virus in students or staff who were in the building while infectious during the most recent two-week reporting period.
Schools on the list may not have ongoing transmission, according to MDH officials. Schools are removed from the list after 28 days without any new cases.
