5 Maple Grove Schools On MN’s COVID-19 Outbreak List

MAPLE GROVE, MN — Five Maple Grove schools were named Thursday on the Minnesota Department of Health’s weekly list of facilities with coronavirus outbreaks. That’s the lowest that number has been in more than two months.

Thursday's list included three elementary schools — Fernbrook, Rush Creek and Weaver Lake — as well as Maple Grove Middle School and Maple Grove Senior High.

Eight schools were included on last week’s list, but three other elementary schools — Basswood, Elm Creek and Rice Lake — were removed from the most recent list.

All five Maple Grove schools on Thursday’s list are in the Osseo Area Schools District. The district’s COVID-19 data dashboard shows there have been 2,653 coronavirus cases among students since Sept. 7, including 342 new cases from Jan. 18-24.

Officials also reported 103 new cases among staff from Jan. 18-24, taking that total to 608 cases since Sept. 7, the dashboard shows.

The district had not updated its COVID-19 data dashboard by 4:30 p.m. Thursday to include statistics from the past week.

Sixty-three Hennepin County schools were included on the Minnesota Department of Health's most recent list of facilities with coronavirus outbreaks, 36 less than last week.
