8 Maple Grove Schools Remain On MDH Coronavirus Outbreak List

No Maple Grove schools were added to or removed from the state's latest list of facilities with coronavirus outbreaks.

MAPLE GROVE, MN — Eight Maple Grove schools were once again included Thursday on the Minnesota Department of Health’s list of facilities with recent coronavirus outbreaks.

The most recent list released Thursday includes four Osseo Area elementary schools in Maple Grove — Fernbrook, Rice Lake, Rush Creek and Weaver Lake — as well as Maple Grove Middle School, Maple Grove Senior High, Parnassus Preparatory Charter School and Ave Maria Academy.

The COVID-19 data dashboard for Osseo Area Schools shows there have been 448 total coronavirus cases among students in the district since Sept. 7, including 61 new cases from Oct. 19-25. The district serves about 20,500 students.

The district has reported 80 total coronavirus cases since Sept. 7 among about 4,100 staff members, according to the dashboard.

The number of Hennepin County schools with recent coronavirus outbreaks continues to grow each week. There were 89 Hennepin County schools on Thursday’s list, a dozen more than last week.

Eighty Minnesota schools were added to the list Thursday, taking the state’s total to 639 schools with coronavirus outbreaks.

A school is considered to have an outbreak when it reports five or more confirmed cases of the virus in students or staff who were in the building while infectious during the most recent two-week reporting period.

Schools on the list may not have ongoing transmission, according to MDH officials. Schools are removed from the list after 28 days without any new cases.
