A Look Ahead: Family Activities at Three Rivers Parks

A look at some of the family-friendly activities lined up at several parks in the north metro for the week of Nov. 11-17, 2012, including a frosty project.

Frosty Faces – Ceramic Snowman Kit and Mug Making

Get ready for winter and create a personalized clay snowman kit and mug for hot cocoa. On Sunday, Nov. 11, from 1-4 p.m., at Silverwood Park, learn basic hand-building skills and decorating techniques as you make reusable pipes, buttons, and carrot noses for your snow friend and a mug just for you. Hot chocolate will be served during class. All skill levels are welcome. Cost is $18 and reservations are required. Call 763-559-6700 to make a reservation and reference activity number #437811-13. This program is for ages 5+. Children under 8 must be accompanied by a participating adult.

Free Family Fun Day: Microscopes and Magnifiers

Sunday, Nov. 11, from 1-3 p.m., at Kroening Interpretive Center, in North Mississippi Regional Park, Brooklyn Center. Uncover the details nature keeps hidden from us as you view the world through a different “lens.” This program is free and open to all ages.

Stepping Stones

Saturday, Nov. 17, from 1-2:30 p.m., at Kroening Interpretive Center, in North Mississippi Regional Park, Brooklyn Center. Whether you save it for spring or give it to someone special as a gift this season, let your creativity loose as you design your stone with rocks and shells found down by the river or bring your own decorations.
