Boy In Highway Struck, Killed By Metro Transit Bus In Brooklyn Park

A boy was struck and killed by a Metro Transit bus in the middle of a highway in Brooklyn Park early Wednesday morning, according to police.

BROOKLYN PARK, MN — A boy was struck and killed by a Metro Transit bus in the middle of a highway in Brooklyn Park early Wednesday morning, according to police.

At about 5:50 a.m., officers from Brooklyn Park and the Metro Transit Police Department were dispatched to County Road 81 near 71st Avenue North for a crash.

A child was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Fox 9 identified the child as an 11-year-old.

Investigators believe the boy was standing on the highway and was struck by the bus. The bus driver stopped and cooperated with the investigation, according to police.
