Great River Energy Sends Aid for Oklahoma Tornado Recovery
The Maple Grove-based company contributed $12,000 to relief efforts.

Electric cooperatives impacted by the Oklahoma tornados in May are getting some assistance from Maple Grove-based Great River Energy.
“Great River Energy has pledged its support for electric cooperatives hit by devastating tornadoes in Oklahoma early last week. Great River Energy contributed $12,000 to relief efforts for cooperative members in the area,” the business shared in a May 29 press release.
The fund was created by the Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives. The tornado destroyed two schools, a hospital and entire blocks of homes during its 17-mile course through central Oklahoma on the afternoon of May 20.
In the aftermath of the storm, one of the hardest-hit co-ops, Oklahoma Electric Cooperative of Norman, Okla., had more than 10,000 members without electric service at the peak of the storm damage, according to Great River Energy.
