MAPLE GROVE, MN — The body of a Maple Grove teen who died in 2009 after drinking at a friend’s home is set to be exhumed, according to a report.

An Anoka County judge approved a request from the mother of Robbie Anderson — who died in December 2009 at 19 —to exhume his body as his family searches for answers about his death, which the Hennepin County Medical Examiner ruled a “sudden unexplained death,” FOX 9 reports.

Anderson’s body is buried at Forest Hill Cemetery in Anoka, according to the report. Sandra Anderson’s request for an exhumation was supported by the Maple Grove Police Department and three independent medical examiners due to “discrepancies and inconsistencies in the case,” FOX 9’s Tom Lyden reported.

FOX 9 published a 13-minute profile on Anderson and his family in December 2019, which included footage from inside a police car that showed one of his friends say, “Oh God! I killed Rob! I killed him,” on the night of Anderson’s death.

Two independent medical examiners believe a second autopsy on Anderson’s body after he is exhumed will show he died from blunt force trauma to his head, FOX 9 reports.
