Polar Plungers Raise $125K In Maple Grove For Special Olympics
The Maple Grove Polar Plunge has now raised more than $2 million for Special Olympics Minnesota in the past 15 years.
MAPLE GROVE, MN — More than 400 people from around the Maple Grove area have teamed up to raise more than $125,000 to support Special Olympics in Minnesota.
The 15th annual Polar Plunge in Maple Grove saw hundreds of people jump into the frozen Fish Lake on Saturday to raise money for Special Olympics Minnesota.
During its first 14 years, the Maple Grove Polar Plunge raised $1,994,786. Saturday’s event pushed that total well past the $2 million mark, with 440 plungers raising $125,126, according to the official Polar Plunge website.

Mask Mandate Extended Through Mid-February At Osseo Area Schools
About 250 plungers raised just over $61,000 in 2021, according to the site.

“The Big Nut,” a team of B&F Fastener Supply employees, brought in the most donations of any group at the Maple Grove Polar Plunge, adding $20,230 to the final fundraising total.
A team of 18 Boston Scientific employees leads the way in the large corporation category, having raised more than $9,300 for Special Olympics Minnesota.
More than two dozen students and employees from Osseo Area Schools raised $7,731, and Hennepin County law enforcement workers raised $4,488, according to the official Polar Plunge website.
The “Devil’s Lake Rejects” have brought in $4,380, while The Lookout Bar & Grill in Maple Grove collected $3,830 to donate to Special Olympics Minnesota.
The Lookout Bar & Grill also hosted an “after-plunge” party Saturday to help participants warm up and enjoy the rest of their afternoons.
Four members of the Maple Grove Rotary Club also braved the ice-covered waters of Fish Lake on Saturday, raising almost $1,400.
