MAPLE GROVE, MN — Maple Grove looks set for some beautiful weather — and some thunderstorms — over the Memorial Day Weekend, according to the National Weather Service’s forecast.

Temperatures are expected to be in the 80s on Saturday and Sunday, with a high of 90 degrees Monday, which is Memorial Day.

But it’s not all good news for those planning Memorial Day cookouts and events, with rain and thunderstorms dotting the holiday weekend forecast for Maple Grove.

Memorial Day Ceremony Set For Monday At Maple Grove's Central Park

The city is “likely” to see rain and thunderstorms Saturday morning, while there is a 20 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms Sunday and a 60 percent chance Sunday night into Monday, the NWS said.

Some of the storms Sunday night “could be severe” and include large hail and damaging winds, according to the NWS.

Storms could resume in Maple Grove on Monday afternoon, though temperatures are forecast to reach up to 90 degrees in the city. Hail and damaging winds are also possible Monday night, the NWS said.

Maple Grove American Legion To Host '99 Flag' Ceremony Sunday

Several Memorial Day events are scheduled in Maple Grove this weekend.

The Osseo/Maple Grove American Legion Post 172 is set to host its "99 Flag" ceremony Sunday evening, with members and volunteers to place American flags along County Road 81 for each of the 99 Minnesotans who died while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The American Legion post's annual Memorial Day ceremony is scheduled to start at noon Monday at the Veterans Memorial in Maple Grove's Central Park.
