Weekend Storm Drops 5 Inches Of Snow On Maple Grove: NWS

Snowfall totals in Hennepin County ranged from 3.8 inches in Champlin to 18.5 inches in Bloomington, the National Weather Service said.

MAPLE GROVE, MN — More than 5 inches snow fell on parts of Maple Grove this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service’s snowfall reports show totals of 5.8 inches in south-southwest Maple Grove, while about 4.3 inches fell in west-southwest Maple Grove.

At least 3 inches of snow fell across Hennepin County, with Maple Grove reporting some of the lowest totals in the county. About 18.5 inches of snow fell in parts of Bloomington, while Minneapolis received almost a foot of snow, the NWS said.

The National Weather Service said the heaviest snowfall was seen in the Twin Cities metro, with the largest totals in the southwest and eastern parts of the region.

The highest snowfall total in Minnesota this weekend was 21 inches in east St. Paul. Woodbury posted the second-highest total with 20 inches of snow.

The same weather system that dropped more than a foot of snow on much of the Twin Cities region also generated tornadoes and intense thunderstorms in parts of Kentucky, Illinois, Arkansas and other states, the NWS said.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said Monday morning that at least 64 people were killed after four tornadoes touched down in the state over the weekend. More than 100 people were still missing Monday, WLKY reports.
