Winter Storm Saturn: Snow Total, Plowing Update and Accidents in Maple Grove
Just how much snow did Maple Grove receive March 4 and 5?

With several inches of snow falling March 4 and 5, crews have been busy plowing roadways throughout Maple Grove.
On city streets, Maple Grove plows had road cleared until heavier snow started around 8 p.m. Monday, March 4.
“Allowing the snow to accumulate to a reasonable depth before commencing plowing operations, plows were out again at 3:00 AM Tuesday to initially clear all primary and secondary routes first and are now clearing all residential streets,” Director of Public Works/City Engineer Ken Ashfeld wrote in an email to Patch.

Snow accumulation before the end of the “snow event” will determine the need for second coverage in the city, according to Ashfeld.
“It usually takes approximately 8 hours to plow the 280 miles of streets within the City,” Ashfeld told Patch.

As of 10 a.m., Tuesday, Maple Grove reportedly has about seven inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service.
A winter storm warning remained in effect until noon Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service, with snow forecast to diminishing during the afternoon.
Several accidents have been reported throughout Tuesday morning in the Twin Cities, including a spinout on westbound Interstate 94 WB near 95th Avenue North and on Interstate 494 near Bass Lake Road. Official numbers of the Twin Cities have not yet been released.
Snow and road conditions also prompted the closure of schools throughout Maple Grove Tuesday, including both the Osseo and Wayzata School District as well as most private and charter schools. Although, the Osseo School District School Board meeting continues as scheduled for 8 p.m. Tuesday as does the Section 3AAA Girls' Basketball semifinals at Maple Grove Senior High, according to the District 279 Facebook page.
Patch will continue to provide updates throughout the day.
