Boy, 14, Charged In Shooting Death Of 13-Year-Old In Minneapolis
Police said the 14-year-old boy was handling a gun when the 13-year-old boy was shot.

MINNEAPOLIS — A 14-year-old boy has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of 13-year-old Quadir Deangelo Blackwell at a Minneapolis home last month.
The boy was charged by juvenile petition in Hennepin County District Court, the Star Tribune reported. No further information about the child could be released due to his minor status.
Blackwell was shot and killed around 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 5. He died at the scene, a house located on the 2400 block of Ferrant Place.

“The death of a child is always incredibly troubling and tragic,” said Chief Brian O’Hara on the day of the shooting.
"Our investigators will work diligently to answer the many questions we have. In addition to supporting the families that are impacted by this tragedy, everyone must make every effort to ensure that every gun is securely stored."

Police said the 14-year-old boy was handling a gun when the 13-year-old boy was shot. There were two women and other kids in the home at the time of the shooting. No one else was injured. MPD said it was "familiar with both of the boys."
The 14-year-old boy was on the scene when officers arrived.
