3-5 Inches Of Snow Possible Thursday In Twin Cities: MN Weather

TWIN CITIES, MN — The Twin Cities should get between 3 to 5 inches of snow Thursday, just before Christmas, according to the latest forecast.

"Confidence continues to increase in the potential for a band of 3 to 6 inches of snow across central Minnesota through western Wisconsin, generally near and north of the Interstate 94 corridor, Wednesday night through much of Thursday," the National Weather Service said.

"Northern and eastern portions of the Twin Cities metro could potentially be included within such a band of plowable snow. There is still some uncertainty in exactly where and how wide this band of snow develops."

Officials have warned that hazardous travel conditions could emerge due to accumulating snow, especially during the Thursday morning commute when snowfall is expected to be heaviest.

Wind gusts of 20 to 30 mph throughout the day may cause blowing snow, significantly reducing visibility. Drivers should plan for slower speeds and extended travel times Thursday morning.
