1. Gov. Tim Walz signed a bill into law Friday which will give payments to frontline workers. A ceremonial bill signing was held Monday at the State Capitol. The Star Tribune reports the move “will result in hundreds of thousands of pandemic frontline workers receiving payments of roughly $750 and prevent major tax increases for businesses.” (Paid source: Star Tribune)
2. A couple was charged this week with shooting an off-duty Minneapolis Police Department forensic scientist. Both people are charged with attempted first-degree premeditated murder for the April 20 shooting of Nicole Lenway, who is still in the hospital with a perforated lung. (KARE11)

3. President Joe Biden honored the late Walter Mondale Sunday at a ceremony in Minneapolis. "He was one of the finest men I've ever known, one of the most decent people I've ever dealt with, and one of the toughest, smartest men I've ever worked with,” the president said. 4. The city of Minneapolis saw nine homicides in the last 10 days of April, CBS reports. Three murders on April 29 brought the city’s total so far this year to 31 homicides. (CBS)
5. The Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival will begin Thursday at an all-new venue: MSP Film at The Main. More than 200 films will screen during the two-week festival, in its 41st year. (MSP Film Society)
