1. Minnesota Democrats called for action on gun control Wednesday after a gunman killed 19 children and two teachers at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. "I’m a gun owner. Do not tell me our Founders conceived of this carnage when they wrote the Constitution," Rep. Dean Phillips tweeted. (BMTN)
2. The Minneapolis City Council will vote today on whether to confirm Interim City Coordinator Heather Johnston to continue leading the office. More than 60 city employees signed a letter Tuesday saying the office is a “toxic and racist workplace” and Johnston has done little to help the culture. (CBS)

3. Areas of Highway 55 will remain under construction throughout the holiday weekend, the Minnesota Department of Transportation reports. The department expects Memorial Day weekend travel to increase to pre-pandemic levels. (Patch)
4. The Minnesota Aurora FC will take the field for its inaugural soccer game tonight at TCO Stadium. All 5,600 tickets are sold out. (KARE11)
