Cyclist Traveled At 'High Rate Of Speed' Before Deadly Crash: Police
The cyclist died following a crash with a semi-truck in northeast Minneapolis, authorities said.

MINNEAPOLIS — Police are investigating after a cyclist was killed in a crash with a semi-truck in northeast Minneapolis.
Police responded to the crash at about 11:30 a.m. on Friday at the intersection of St. Anthony Parkway and California Avenue Northeast.
Officers found the cyclist on the ground near a semi-truck being treated for life-threatening injuries by EMS. He was transported to the Hennepin County Medical Center, where he died.

The cyclist was traveling "at a high rate of speed" downhill and was unable to stop before crashing into the rear of the semi-truck, investigators said. No arrests were made.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the cyclist as Timothy Lee Stangel, 59, of Minneapolis.
