1. Police shot and killed an unnamed man in south Minneapolis early Thursday morning after a six-hour standoff. Police were initially called Wednesday night for reports of a man threatening to shoot a woman and her family through an apartment wall. The shooting is being investigated by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. (CBS)

2. A camel at the Minnesota Zoo attacked two workers Wednesday, hospitalizing one. The camel reportedly bit a zoo employee on the head, dragging him 15 feet, before charging at and biting another worker. (Patch)

3. The University of Minnesota announced changes to its “Gopher Safety Plan” this week, adding two police officers and hiring 10 community service officers to its force. KARE11 reports the administration also plans to install blue light cameras in off-campus areas in the Dinkytown Area and Pillsbury Court. (KARE11)

4. The Twin Cities hotel industry seems to be rebounding from pandemic lows, Axios reports. More than 60 percent of hotel rooms in Minneapolis were booked through June, an increase from last year but still a major drop from 2019. (Axios)
