1. Gunfire struck several homes and a police precinct in north Minneapolis early Tuesday morning. Three people were arrested for shooting at each other between Knox and Logan avenues. (CBS)

2. A 12-year-old boy was shot Monday night at Zanewood Recreation Center in Brooklyn Center. CBS reports that he was not targeted and is recovering. The center remained open Tuesday. (CBS)

3. Abbott Northwestern was ranked the second-best hospital in the state, according to U.S. News and World Report. The Minneapolis medical center was second only to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, which was named the best hospital in the U.S. for the seventh consecutive year. (Patch)

4. Minnesota-based 3M announced this week it will spin off its multibillion-dollar health care business. The separation is expected to be complete by 2023. (Paid source: Star Tribune)
