Ice Storm To Bring Glazed Roads To Twin Cities: MN Weather
A winter weather advisory has been issued for much of central and southern Minnesota, including the Twin Cities metro area.

TWIN CITIES, MN — A winter weather advisory has been issued for much of central and southern Minnesota — including the Twin Cities metro area — where icy roads are expected.
As temperatures shoot into the 30s, an icy wintry mix of snow, sleet, and freezing drizzle will arrive Friday night and last through Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
Counties included in the advisory are Wright, Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, Washington, Freeborn, Le Sueur, Rice, Steele, Waseca, and Goodhue.

"A mix of snow and sleet is expected initially, but it will transition to a mix of freezing rain and snow through Saturday morning," the NWS said.
"The main concern is travel impacts from a glazing of ice and slick roads. Southeast winds will be light, around 10 to 15 mph, and any icing amounts should be less than a tenth of an inch. For that reason, we do not anticipate impacts to powerlines."

Minnesotans can expect snow accumulations up to one inch, sleet accumulations up to one tenth of an inch, and ice accumulations up to one tenth of an inch.

Friday Night: A chance of sleet before 2am, then snow and sleet. Temperature rising to around 20 by 5am. East southeast wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Saturday: Snow and sleet, possibly mixed with freezing rain before 10am, then snow between 10am and 2pm, then snow and freezing rain after 2pm. High near 30. East southeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Saturday Night: Cloudy, with a low around 28. East wind 5 to 10 mph.
Sunday: Cloudy, with a high near 37. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
Sunday Night: A 20 percent chance of rain after midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 32. South southeast wind around 10 mph.
Monday: A chance of rain before 2pm, then a chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. South wind 10 to 15 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Monday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 21. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 27. West northwest wind 10 to 15 mph.
Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 14. North northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
