MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesotans can expect a brief break from frigid temperatures as warmer air moves into the region, bringing highs near 40 degrees and plenty of snowmelt in the days following Christmas.

Starting with a cloudy and mild Christmas Day reaching 33 degrees, the warmth continues to build through the week, peaking Friday with rain and a high of 42.
