MN UCare Offices Close After 'Concerning' Phone Call

The incident happened days after the CEO of Minnesota-based UnitedHealth Care was shot and killed in an apparent targeted attack.

MINNESOTA — UCare, a Minnesota-based nonprofit health insurance company, has temporarily closed its offices after receiving a "concerning" phone call late last week.

The incident happened days after Brian Thompson, CEO of Minnesota-based UnitedHealth Care, was shot and killed in an apparent targeted attack.

"Late last Friday, UCare received a concerning comment in a phone call and, out of an abundance of caution, decided to close our offices for a week," UCare spokesperson Wendy Wicks told Patch.

"Employees will work from home as UCare takes every precaution to protect our team. We reported the call to the police, but are not aware of any threat to our offices or team."

Wicks highlighted that UCare is a mission-driven, nonprofit health insurance company with 600,000 members across Minnesota and parts of western Wisconsin. Their offerings include Medicaid, Medicare, and individual and family health plans.
