1. The principal of Minneapolis North High School will return to finish out the school year after the district initially put her on administrative leave. Mauri Friestleben attended a sit-in to protest the police shooting of Amir Locke earlier this year. Now students and the NAACP are calling on Minneapolis Public Schools to be transparent about their decision and reversal of Friestleben’s leave. (CBS)
2. More than 40 homes were flooded over the weekend in St. Louis Park after a water main break on Minnetonka Boulevard. The area will remain closed between Texas and Sumter avenues through Wednesday, Hennepin County officials said. (Patch)

3. Unvaccinated seniors are nearly five times more likely to be hospitalized with COVID-19 than seniors who are vaccinated and boosted, according to new state data. Minnesota Department of Public Health officials hope the new information encourages people to get vaccinated and boosted during this wave of the pandemic. (Paid source: Star Tribune)
4. The University of Minnesota just received a $66 million grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Funds will go toward establishing a center “to develop antiviral drugs for pandemic-level viruses,” including the virus that causes COVID-19. (University)
