These Are The Crime Grades For Every Twin Cities Suburb

TWIN CITIES, MN — How safe is your suburb? Data analysis website Niche.com set out to answer that question by assigning crime grades to cities and towns across the country.

The grades are based on a mix of hard data, including FBI crime rates and CDC health statistics, and resident feedback submitted through surveys.

In the Twin Cities metro, most suburbs received a B or B+ for crime, indicating average to above-average safety.

Just one suburb, Deephaven, earned a top-tier A, the report found.

Several of the region’s largest population centers, including Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Richfield, received a C.

No local community received a D or F grade.

According to Niche, the crime grade is based on more than just police reports. About 38 percent of the score comes from local survey responses. The rest is drawn from federal sources, including data on assault, robbery, burglary, drug-related deaths, excessive drinking, and firearm-related fatalities.
