1. A man was shot and killed in North Minneapolis Thursday night, police reported. The shooting in the 1100 block of North 21st Avenue was the city’s 20th homicide this year. (KARE11)

2. The University of Minnesota will pay athletes who excel academically, athletics director Mark Coyle announced Friday. Schools are now allowed to give nearly $6,000 a year to athletes due to an NCAA rule change in 2020. (Paid source: Star Tribune)

3. Broders’ Cucina Italiana is closed indefinitely after a weekend fire. No one was injured but repairs are needed at the restaurant, located at 50th and Penn Avenue South. (BMTN)

4. The Minnesota Orchestra will present a “relaxed family concert” today at Orchestra Hall. Featuring music from around the world, the event is “designed for audiences of all ages and abilities, including individuals on the autism spectrum and those with sensory sensitivities.” (Orchestra)
