The reopenings are the latest expansion of service for the county library system, and part of a nearly two-year response to COVID-19 that began with a systemwide closure of all buildings in March 2020. Limited in-person services resumed throughout 2020-2021, with hours expanding at 39 open locations in October 2021. The reopenings on March 15 mark the return of in-person service to all 41 Hennepin County libraries.
