Upon receiving approval from the Federal Railroad Administration, CP began removing derailed cars from the site by rail at low speeds Thursday evening, March 11. The previous plan for removal of derailed train cars involved the construction of a temporary road from Pineview Lane running north of the tracks, which would have taken more time to complete and been more disruptive and impactful to neighbors and nearby traffic.
As of Friday morning, CP had removed five derailed train cars from the site via rail.

Pineview Lane currently remains closed to traffic. However, with the change, the roadway is expected to reopen to traffic in the coming weeks and vehicles will be permitted to cross the tracks.
Adjusted Timeline
Removal of derailed train cars is expected to continue around the clock through the middle of next week, followed by ongoing restoration of the site. Because operations will continue 24/7, residents should expect to continue to hear frequent train horns and equipment noise.
Restoration of the site is dependent upon ground and weather conditions, so the timeline is yet to be determined. Restoration work will occur primarily during daylight hours.
