'Anonymous Threat' Sends Eden Prairie High School Into Lockdown

Due to the threat, Friday night's football game against Shakopee was postponed to noon on Saturday, officials said.

EDEN PRAIRIE, MN — Eden Prairie police say a threat made against a student at Eden Prairie High School Friday was not credible. However, the "possible threat" did send the school into lockdown, authorities said.

Officials with Eden Prarie Schools said that due to the "anonymous threat," Friday night's football game against Shakopee was postponed to noon on Saturday.

Eden Prairie Police were notified of the possible threat at about 12:45 p.m. Friday. "Out of an abundance of caution," the school went into lockdown while police began investigating, police said.

At about 1:30 p.m., police announced that there was "no credible threat to students at Eden Prairie High School." The lockdown was lifted and students were allowed to leave school.

The threat follows a nationwide spike in the number of "swatting" incidents.

Last month, more than a dozen schools in Minnesota were "swatted." There have been similar instances across the U.S.
