Highway 62 Closures Start Friday

Three things you need to know about Southwest Minneapolis this Friday.

1) Highway 62 Closes Tonight

If you thought Monday's Highway 62 ramp closures were irritating, keep an eye out for detours on Friday night. That's when MnDOT is planning to close Hwy 62 in order to demolish the Penn Ave Bridge. Starting at 10 p.m., westbound Hwy 62 traffic will be detoured to I-494 and to Hwy 100, and eastbound Hwy 62 traffic will be rerouted to I-494 and to I-35W. You'll still be able to get to Edina's Fairview hospital using eastbound Hwy 62, exiting at France Avenue, though. Everything will reopen by 5 p.m. on Monday.

2) DEADLINE: Aladdin, Jr.

Want to take your kid on the Park Board-organized Aug. 2 trip to the Stages Theater's production of Aladdin, Jr.? Make sure to register by Friday, July 26 through the MPRB website or at the ArmatagePershing, or Linden Hills Park rec centers.

3) Art and Garden Tour

This Saturday, Tangletown Gardens is hosting their annual Art & Gardens tour. Buy tickets in advance and save $5 off of the $30 same-day cost. The tour—typically quite bikeable—showcases 9 gardens around the Twin Cities, paired with fantastic works of art.
