Joy Ride Takes Over Lakes This Weekend
"Bike to the Beach," farmers markets, and movies on tap for this weekend in Southwest Minneapolis

1) Joy ride to the beach
This Saturday, Minneapolis bicycle enthusiasts are organizing a joy ride around Lake Harriet, Lake Calhoun, and Cedar Lake, with stops at two beaches and one picnic spot along the way—Lake Harriet's North Beach, Cedar Lake's Hidden Beach, and Beard's Plaisance. Supersoakers are encouraged, and lunch will be served when the cyclists reach Beard's Plaisance, overlooking Lake Harriet. Helmets are required, and alcohol is not allowed.
2) Movies and Music
This being Minneapolis, no summer weekend could pass without movies and/or music in a local park. Minneapolis indie musician John Mark Nelson will rock the Harriet Bandshell on Friday, followed by the Puddle Jumpers on Saturday and Scapegoat Skin and Bones on Sunday. "The Goonies" plays at the Bandshell on Saturday, and Boys Cry plays at Pershing Park on Sunday. Full schedules and times available at MplsMusicandMovies.com
3) Farmers Markets
You can't forget about the weekly farmers markets in Linden Hills, Kingfield and Fulton! The Fulton Farmers Market lasts all Saturday morning, while the Linden Hills and Kingfield Farmers Markets take place Sunday.
