Olson Middle School In Minneapolis Goes Into 'Code Red' Lockdown

School officials said they went into a code red lockdown after a fight Wednesday.

MINNEAPOLIS — Olson Middle School in North Minneapolis went into a "code red" lockdown Wednesday afternoon following a fight.

"You may have seen a social media post of a fight that occurred today in our school that resulted with a threat of adults possibly coming to our school," school officials said on Facebook.

"This caused us to go on a code red and remain in classrooms for a short time. At no time did anyone get inside of the building. Staff responded immediately to the incident and followed our security procedures."

The Minneapolis Police Department responded to the scene. At about 1:40 p.m., the school said it had begun moving back to "normal operations."

"Our highest priority is the safety of our students and staff, and fighting is not tolerated at our school or on school property," the school added. "We follow the MPS discipline policy in instances of fighting, and we are committed to providing a safe learning environment for all students."
