‘Alberta Clipper’ Could Bring Snow To Stillwater On Friday: NWS

STILLWATER, MN — Stillwater could get snow Friday from an “Alberta Clipper” storm moving across northern U.S. states, according to the National Weather Service.
The NWS said there is a 60 percent chance of snow Friday afternoon in Stillwater, with about an inch of snowfall expected.
A major snowstorm was set to hit the Twin Cities metro Friday, but heavier snow is now more likely to fall in southwest Minnesota after it shifted directions.

Up to 3 inches of snow could fall in parts of the Twin Cities metro, while up to 6 inches could fall in southwestern Minnesota counties, where a winter storm warning has been issued, according to the National Weather Service.

The storm is caused by a low pressure system, fondly nicknamed an "Alberta Clipper," originating in Alberta, Canada, and moving southeast, the NWS said. The Alberta Clipper usually brings cold and snow along with it.
Washington County is also under a hazardous weather outlook. The National Weather Service said a mix of snow and freezing rain is possible Thursday morning, with snow on Friday.
City ordinances require Stillwater residents to park their vehicles based on an odd/even schedule from Nov. 1 until April 1.
If vehicles are not parked on the correct side of the street by midnight, they could be ticketed or towed, Stillwater ordinances state.
