Burning Ban to End in Washington County

It's looking like a great night to have a bonfire, and for the first time in three weeks ... it's legal.

After three weeks of severe drought conditions, the burning ban in Washington County is finally coming to an end.

The ban will be canceled at 5 p.m. tonight (Oct. 26).

Due to the recent rains and cooler temperatures, the fire danger is now low across the entire state of Minnesota. As a result of these changes, the Fire Chiefs of Washington County are lifting the burning ban that as been in place since Oct. 5.

Earlier this week, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources lifted the ban in several northwestern and southeastern Minnesota—excluding Washington County and 17 other counties in east-central Minnesota. 

Camp or recreational fires or open burns will be permitted within Washington County in compliance with the current DNR fire restrictions in place for Washington County.
