'Compassionate And Unconditional': Stillwater Star Student
Senior Cooper Howe was nominated as a Patch star student. He is "compassionate and unconditional with so many people," his grandparent said.

STILLWATER, — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Sharri Murphy who nominated Cooper Howe of Stillwater, Minnesota.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Cooper has shown much compassion for his fellow classmates in a Trust Club and class for students with all kinds of disabilities. He has coached the basketball team for a number of years. The team even won the State Tournament one year! He volunteered with after school Trust Club in various ways, including many years of the Polar Plunge.
He had the confidence and understanding to ask one of the girls to his prom. She had never been to Prom before.
Cooper was the boys hockey manager for two years and has mentored another boy with Down Syndrome, who manages the hockey team. He picks up this young man and takes him out for ice cream or to lunch.
Cooper has become a wonderful young man with a passion for those with disabilities and the less fortunate. His family is very proud of him. Cooper will continue his education at the University of Minnesota.
